    Indian Revenue Service is the service of collecting direct and indirect taxes that are acquired by the Government. IRS officers has two basic branches namely IRS Income Tax and IRS Customs and Central Excise. IRS exam is a civil services exam in conducted by UPSC. The eligibility criteria for the IRS are one has to be citizen of India, age limit is 21 years to 32 years for OC, 35 years for OBC and 37 years for SC/ST, Candidate who have passed the final exam of Insitute of Chartered Accountants of India ICAI, ICSI, ICWAI and obtain degree in recognized university. The number of Attempts for OC is 6 attempts, OBC is 9 attempts, and SC/ST has no restrictions for attempts.

    Candidate should have any of the following credentials: A degree from a Central, State or Deemed University A degree received through Correspondence Education or Distance A degree from an Open University A qualification recognised by the Government of India as being equivalent to either of the above. The following candidates are also eligible, but have to submit proof of their eligibility from a competent authority at their institute/university at the time of the main examination, failing which they will not be allowed to attend the exam Candidates who have passed the final exam of the MBBS degree but have not yet completed their internship Candidates who have passed the Final exam of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), ICSI and ICWAI A degree from a private university A degree from any foreign university recognised by Association of Indian Universities (AIU)

    One has to be the citizen of India. One has to be 21 years of age. One has to have pass intermediate. One has to obtain a degree from central, state or recognized university.

    Officer grade – The two sources of entry to Indian Revenue Service are the officers directly recruited through Civil Services Examination conducted by UPSC and officers promoted from Income Tax Officers (Class-II) grade. To enter into a career as IRS officer / officer grade directly one has to pass the Civil Service Examination conducted by UPSC. The minimum qualification required for applying for CSE is graduation from a recognised university. Candidates, who have attained 21 years of age but not attained 30 years of age on August 1st of the year of examination are eligible to apply.
